NIPSA has called on working class people to stand united in defence of our public services. NIPSA demands that Executive Ministers refuse to impose further cuts on public services if Westminster does not provide the funding needed.
NIPSA General Secretary Carmel Gates said:
“Public services cannot withstand another round of cuts. Years of underfunding have left services stretched to breaking point and the workers delivering them facing relentless pressure.
“Our members did not create this crisis, yet they are being expected to carry the consequences through increased workloads, pressure on pay and conditions, and services struggling to meet growing need.
“Westminster must provide the funding required to deliver public services according to need. If it refuses to do so, Executive Ministers must refuse to make the cuts.
“Ministers must be prepared to bust the Budget rather than make workers pay the price for continued underfunding. NIPSA’s message is clear: refuse the cuts and defend our public services.”
NIPSA has consistently called for a needs-based Budget, warning that continued underfunding will result in further damaging cuts to public services and public-sector pay.
