The ongoing environmental crisis at Lough Neagh continues to threaten public health, biodiversity and one of Northern Ireland's most important natural resources.
Motions were passed at NIPSA's Annual Delegate Conference supporting the ecological recovery of Lough Neagh and recognising the urgent need for action to address the environmental damage being caused by pollution and recurring toxic algal blooms.
As a union committed to protecting public services, public health and the environment, NIPSA is supporting the March for Clean Water, organised by the Save Lough Neagh campaign, and is encouraging members to take part.

Lough Neagh supplies drinking water to a significant proportion of the population and is a vital environmental, economic and community asset. The ongoing crisis highlights the need for urgent action, proper investment and long-term protection of our waterways.
Carmel Gates, NIPSA General Secretary has added this message:
" Our union stands firmly behind efforts to protect and restore Lough Neagh. Delegates at NIPSA's Annual Delegate Conference recognised that the environmental crisis at the lough is also a public health issue, a workers' issue and a community issue.
"We welcome the broad coalition being brought together by the Save Lough Neagh campaign to demand meaningful action. We encourage our members to support the March for Clean Water and to stand with all those calling for the protection and restoration of one of Northern Ireland's most important natural assets."
The march follows a summer of community action across the Lough shore and beyond, with people coming together to demand meaningful action to restore and protect our waterways.
