Health and Social Care workers are facing the consequences of years of underfunding, staff shortages and broken promises on pay. Now, proposed cuts of more than 12% over the next three years threaten to place even greater pressure on already overstretched services and the workers who keep them running.
NIPSA's Enough is Enough campaign is bringing members together to defend jobs, secure fair pay, protect staffing levels and stand up for the public services our communities depend on. Enough is enough. We cannot allow cuts to be dressed up as efficiencies while workers continue to wait for the pay and recognition they deserve.
Enough Is Enough: NIPSA to Ballot Health Members for Industrial Action
Following extensive consultation with Health and Social Care members, the message has been clear: Enough is Enough. Members are no longer prepared to accept increasing workloads, unsafe staffing levels, threats to jobs and continued cuts to vital services.
With the support of NIPSA's Disputes Committee, we are now balloting Health and Social Care members for industrial action.
Ballot Details
We're fighting for:
- FAIR PAY – Our outstanding 2026–27 pay award.
- REAL LIVING WAGE – Fair pay for our lowest paid workers.
- PAY PARITY – Protecting fairness in pay reform.
- SAFE STAFFING – Tackling shortages and excessive workloads.
- JOB SECURITY – Opposing cuts to jobs and services.
- FAIR MILEAGE RATES – Ending the unfair burden of rising travel costs.
Ballot opens: Wednesday 21 October 2026
Ballot closes: Wednesday 18 November 2026
Look out for your ballot papers arriving in the post from Friday 23 October and be sure to post them back by Saturday 7 November.
A strong YES for strike action and YES for Action Short of Strike will send a clear message that Health and Social Care workers will not accept cuts that put jobs, staffing levels and services at risk.
