The 33rd Annual Belfast Pride Festival will take place from 21 July to 30 July and involves a ten-day long programme of events, ranging from lectures, exhibitions to performing arts. Information on events being organised can be found on the Belfast Pride Festival website at www.belfastpride.com. The theme this year is ‘Stand By Your Trans’. Pride Village
NIPSA will have a stall at ‘The Pride Village’ which will be held in Donegall Quay, Belfast (beside the Big Fish) and will be open from 12.00 until 4.00pm.
Pride Parade
The festival culminates on Pride Day, Saturday 29 July 2023 with the Pride Parade through Belfast City Centre followed by a Party in the Square. Once again trade unions will be marching together. The trade union bloc will be forming up at Donegal Quay (not McHugh’s Bar).
Please note: In order to gain entry to the parade members will be required to have a wristband. In order to obtain your wristband please visit the NIPSA stand in ‘The Pride Village’. Wristbands will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Once you receive your wristband please make your way to Donegal Quay facing the Obel Tower where you should look for the NIPSA delegation; any of the parade organisers should be on hand to assist you. You must be there no later than 12.30pm.
In line with the objects of NIPSA which is to promote equal opportunities for all members and to develop positive policies to promote equality of opportunity, NIPSA is supporting the festival and pride day. NIPSA LGBTQI+ flags and banner will be carried on the parade and we will have a stall at the ‘The Pride Village.’ On behalf of the General Council, we wish to encourage branches and members to take part in the week’s activities and particularly the Pride Parade on Saturday 29 July 2023.
