NIPSA, the largest union from the Non-Teaching workforce in Education, representing over 8,000 members working across schools, support services and Education Authority HQ, announces the commencement of Action Short of Strike Action.
Alan Law, Assistant Secretary, commenting on the action added:
“NIPSA Education members working in Schools and Education Authority HQ functions today commenced Action Short of Strike Action as a response to the failure to resolve the outstanding Pay and Grading review, lift the moratorium on Job Evaluations, address the erosion of supervisory pay differentials and to protect jobs and services.
NIPSA members are furious that they continue to languish on low pay with excessively long pay scales despite the efforts of both Trade Union Side and Education Authority management to achieve a resolution; the Department of Education still prevaricates over the approval of the business case to seek funding from the Department of Finance.
These delays are unacceptable and show nothing but contempt to the staff affected. NIPSA is in discussions with colleagues from Trade Union Side on how we will escalate our action including targeted strike action to ensure no-one is in any doubt about our commitment to achieve a successful outcome in this dispute.”
