NIPSA has announced that it has secured an unprecedented £3,047,868 in compensation for members so far this year, more than three times the amount typically recovered during a full year through the union's legal services.
The compensation has been awarded in cases involving workplace accidents, assaults at work, road traffic accidents, medical negligence and accidents outside the workplace.
The achievement highlights the significant value of NIPSA's legal support provision, which provides members with access to expert legal representation and assistance when pursuing claims.
Commenting on the milestone, NIPSA General Secretary Carmel Gates said:
"Securing more than £3 million in compensation for our members in just six months is a remarkable achievement and demonstrates the real benefits of NIPSA membership.
"Behind this figure are individual members and families who have received justice and financial support after experiencing difficult and often traumatic circumstances.
"With the continued pressure of rising living costs, NIPSA has been focused on delivering practical support that makes a real difference to members' lives. Securing more than £3 million in compensation this year has helped put money back into the pockets of working people and their families when they need it most.
"NIPSA is proud to stand alongside our members, ensuring they have access to high-quality legal representation both inside and outside the workplace."
Carmel Gates also acknowledged the contribution of Deputy General Secretary Antoinette McMillen.

Alongside funding legal claims through its partnership with McCartan Turkington Breen, NIPSA provides members with a range of additional legal benefits, including free will-writing services for members and their spouse or partner, discounted conveyancing services and free initial legal advice on personal matters not related to employment.
The record-breaking figure demonstrates how NIPSA continues to deliver practical support and real benefits for members and their families.
