Further to the posting on NICS 2018-19 Pay Campaign the following is an update on the pay meeting held on 21 February and the Special meeting of the Civil Service Executive Committee held on 22 February 2019.
The meeting with Management Side on 21 February did not make any real progress in relation to the quantum of the pay offer and Management Side indicated that at this point in time the remit remained at 1% with the potential for perhaps a small increase if there were issues regarding NIPSA giving up terms and conditions in exchange.
The Civil Service Executive Committee unanimously agreed to reject the current position and in doing so agreed to commence a series of meetings and engagements with members to both update members on the negotiations to date and discuss the strategy to oppose the 1%. Part of that strategy will also be to engage with members on the potential for industrial action as part of the overall strategy.
Please make every effort to attend your Branch meeting which will take place over the next 2-3 weeks (you will receive a communication directly from your Branch Secretary) and make your voice heard.
It is clear it will take a body of work to break the 1% pay position currently adopted by the Management Side.
