The Northern Ireland Public Service Alliance (NIPSA) is taking a significant step in ensuring the well-being and fair treatment of its dedicated members working in outsourced public services. In a relentless pursuit of justice and improved working conditions for our valued members employed in private facilities management, cleaning, and security contracts, NIPSA is pleased to announce the launch of a comprehensive survey, tailor-made for our members.

This survey is a crucial endeavour to gain valuable insights into the prevailing work conditions, challenges faced by members, and issues related to the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations (TUPE) process.

Why This Survey Matters

Outsourced public service workers often find themselves vulnerable to exploitation by large multinational corporations seeking to cut hours and reduce essential terms and conditions. NIPSA recognises the need to champion the cause of these dedicated individuals who contribute significantly to the smooth functioning of public services in Northern Ireland.

NIPSA Official Ryan Wilson, who is leading on the issue, said the following:

"NIPSA has tirelessly campaigned for improved terms and conditions for these hardworking staff members. They deserve fair treatment, and we are dedicated to ensuring that their voices are heard and their rights protected. This survey, customised for our members, will allow us to comprehensively assess and review the current conditions faced by our members and measure the impact of NIPSA's efforts in securing better pay and conditions.

In addition, I am pleased to highlight that through NIPSA's proactive approach, we have successfully reached settlements in several cases involving breaches of the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations (TUPE). While these cases did not proceed to court, our dedication and commitment have led to combined settlements totalling over £100,000. This demonstrates our unwavering commitment to ensuring our members receive the compensation and justice they deserve.”

Mr. Wilson further emphasised the importance of member participation, urging everyone to complete the survey and return it in the enclosed envelope:

“The valuable data gathered will not only help NIPSA better understand the challenges faced by outsourced public service workers but also equip the organisation with the necessary information to advocate for change.”

How to Participate:

NIPSA members will receive the survey in their letterboxes, complete with a return envelope. We encourage all members to take a few minutes to share their experiences and insights. Your feedback will make a significant difference in the lives of those who work diligently behind the scenes to uphold the integrity of public services.
