Yesterday the Employer’s Side of the National Joint Council (NJC) tabled a 2 year pay offer which for most NJC staff would mean a 1% pay increase from April 2016 and a further 1% increase from 2017, with higher increases for the lowest paid who are currently paid below the new government National Living Wage.

Following a number of queries from members who transferred from the NICS to Local Government at the 1st April 2015 I am writing to clarify the position for these members in relation to 2015 pay.

Consultation: Code of Audit Practice for Local Government Bodies

I refer to the above consultation and the Local Government Auditor’s letter of 2 September 2015.

I am setting out here the comments of NIPSA, Northern Ireland’s largest trade union and also the biggest trade union in local government, representing just under 4,000 local government employees including those who transferred into the sector under RPA on 1 April this year.

Following consideration by the NJC Trade Unions the following pay claim for 2016/17 has been lodged with the Employers Side of the National Joint Council.
