NIPSA, the largest public sector union in Local Government, seeks clarification from Mid and East Antrim Borough Council over reports of the precautionary suspension of Chief Executive Anne Donaghy.
Alan Law, Assistant Secretary (Acting), commenting on the news reports of the precautionary suspension:
NIPSA has been alerted by various media outlets that Mid and East Antrim Borough Council has taken the decision to place their Chief Executive Anne Donaghy on precautionary suspension.
NIPSA along with colleagues from Unite and GMB attended a meeting with senior officers of Council this morning to discuss routine trade union matters and are disappointed that we were not briefed on these developments.
Council staff are at the forefront of the delivery of vital public services and I am confident they will not be distracted by this news but will expect to receive an update from the interim Chief Executive. NIPSA has requested an update and for a briefing to be issued to all staff.
