Phase Two Management Side Proposals and Implementation of 2020/21 NJC National Pay Agreement Across the Further Education Sector
2019/20 NJC Pay Phase 2:
As you will already be aware, this element of the NJC Pay Agreement required local pay negotiations with each Employer to be conducted in order for the new NJC pay spine introduced by the overarching 2018-20 Agreement to be fully implemented. Phase 1 of the 2019/20 Pay Agreement, applicable from 1 April 2019, provided an incremental rise, where applicable, which was implemented in November 2019. Trade Union Side has been in negotiations with Management Side of the Further Education Sector for a number of months this year on Phase 2, which has resulted in the attached Management Side formal final offer for members’ consideration.
We believe that the attached pay offer is the best that can be secured via negotiation and benefits the majority of our members. I would be grateful if you would please consult with your Branch members and advise me by email by Monday 9 November 2020 if you are satisfied with the proposal and content for NIPSA and our sister trade unions to agree the pay award in order to ensure payment is made to members as soon as possible thereafter.
20/2021 NJC Pay Award:
You will also be aware that the 2020/21 NJC Pay Agreement has been reached, the terms of which are available on the NIPSA website. I am pleased to share that TUS has agreed with the Further Education employers this will be fully implemented as soon as possible and a Joint Circular has now been finalised to formally commence this process. Pay remit approval has been granted and Management Side hopes to be able to pay this award with November salaries. Implementation of Phase 2 of the 2019/20 pay round will take a little longer given the necessary negotiation, consultation and pay remit approval processes.
