The final offer of 2.75% tabled by the Employers’ Side of the National Joint Council has been accepted by the majority of the NJC Trade Unions. While the offer falls far short of the 10% pay claim, given the majority of members have signalled their acceptance of the offer, the unions have by a majority decided to accept the offer. This will be formally communicated to the Employers’ Side and thereafter a formal circular will issue to all employer organisations to allow for the implementation of the increase, effective from 1 April 2020.
NIPSA will be making representations across all NJC areas where we have members to seek to have the uplift and arrears paid as quickly as possible.
It was recognised by members that while the offer fell far short of the 10% claim, it would have been difficult to mount any serious campaign of opposition in the current pandemic.
