As you will be aware, year 2 of the 2018-2020 NJC Pay Agreement stipulates that employers have a choice of 2 assimilation options which require negotiation and agreement with the recognised trade unions prior to implementation of the annual pay rise.
NIPSA has taken the lead in recent negotiations with the Education Authority, together with our sister trade unions Unison, GMB, Unite and AEP (Association of Education Psychologists).
Joint Trade Union Side has received a final pay assimilation proposal from the Education Authority this week, following a series of meetings, advocating the application of Assimilation Option A. The proposal is available to download, click on the link at the bottom of this page. This was considered by the NIPSA Education Panel at its recent meeting on Monday 25 February 2019 and the Panel is recommending that members accept the proposal.
Management Side has committed to paying the increases due to staff with April salaries if the pay assimilation proposal is accepted by all trade unions by 8 March 2019. The Education Panel also agreed that each Branch should hold Branch consultation meetings to consider and vote on the proposal next week. Details of your Branch consultation meeting will be posted on the NIPSA website and also made available from your Branch Committee representatives.
A member of the NIPSA pay negotiating team will attend to take you through and explain the various elements of the proposal. This is a fundamentally important issue for your rate of pay from 1 April 2019 and I would therefore encourage you to attend your Branch meeting and take part in the vote.
