The following is a brief update members on progress of the NIPSA 2020 NICS Pay claim.

Unfortunately, there is little of substance to report at this point in time.

NIPSA did meet with the Finance Minister on Wednesday 9 December and made it clear the many reasons why NIPSA members deserve a decent pay increase. While the Minister recognised and accepted the issues NIPSA raised at the meeting he indicated that he would need to take any proposals to his Executive colleagues for agreement.

NIPSA made it clear that we are over 4 months past when the pay increase was due and that it was important that officials were given a remit to get into substantive negotiations as quickly as possible.

A meeting did take place with Management Side on Thursday 10 December but while there was some discussion on a range of issues there was a lack of progress on a formal remit to allow for detailed negotiations to commence.

A further article will be issued in due course. Members should be assured that NIPSA are pressing for substantive negotiations to commence and the lack of progress is not sustainable.
