NIPSA Members to protest at the Education Authority’s Inaugural Restorative Practice Conference at Dunadry Hotel, Antrim
NIPSA, the leading public sector union with over 8,000 members working in the Education Sector announces a protest at the Education Authority’s Inaugural Restorative Practice Conference at Dunadry hotel Thursday 23rd March at 9am.
Alan Law, Assistant Secretary, added:
“The Education Authority announced recently that they are being compelled to introduce major cuts to spending which includes suspending the recruitment of Crossing Patrol staff, closing HQ Staff canteens, stopping school counselling services, recruitment freeze for staff, restrictions on staff travel and reducing the nutritional content of school meals.
It seems impossible to justify the largesse of a major conference, hosted by the BBC’s Education Correspondent Robbie Meredith, with over 200 delegates and international guest speakers.
NIPSA members are bearing the brunt of the cuts being imposed on the Education Sector as they struggle with increased workloads, vacant posts and ever-increasing waiting lists, will find it difficult to reconcile this with an expensive conference taking place under these circumstances.
The decision to hold this event at this time is incredibly questionable.”
