Members click here for a letter from Matthew McDermott, Assistant Director Corporate HR, which provides an update on the Pay and Grading review, including scales and assimilation points.
The review sought to address failings within the Education Authority pay structure which included lengthy pay scales, low pay, erosion of supervisory differentials, overlapping pay scales and to resolve the longstanding pay dispute for Education Welfare Officers.
The next stage in the process will be a submission of a Business Case to the Department of Education to seek funding for the revised scales and agreement to proceed to formally table these for Trade Union Side consideration. It will be at this stage that NIPSA and our sister Trade Unions will undertake a consultation exercise before making any decisions on whether to accept or reject the proposed new scales.
It is my expectation that this process should not take long but at this stage I am unable to confirm any timeframes. We will not tolerate any unacceptable delays and will be seeking a meeting with the Permanent Secretary and relevant Department of Education officials to ensure this is fully understood.
