I wanted to write to inform you on some discussions with management on agreeing a process for opening up the JBOs for appointments for members of the public.

Over the last few weeks, we have been engaged with management about extending the risk assessment process to cover the re-opening of the public offices and have been working to agree a risk assessment checklist for this. There is no agreed date to open the office as yet and that decision lies with the Minister.

We have made progress on this matter recently but management have come under pressure this week to speed up this process to support those claimants wanting to claim free school meals and the uniform grant for the next school year, a year that is starting early. We have had a number of engagements with management on this and will continue to do so over the next few days.

We have agreed that offices will only open on a limited basis and in a manner whereby our members are safe. Once we agree the risk assessment checklist for this, risk assessments will take place in each of the JBOs before any office will open. We are discussing concerns with management on issues such as screens, PPE, cleaning and attendance on a one in/one out basis.

I will write to you again when I have more information but be assured, we will not agree any process that places our members at risk.
