I am writing to advise that NIPSA and the Trade Unions in Health are collectively working for clearer guidance and updates from the Department of Health and the Trust Employers. We have asked for the latest version of the Frequently Asked Questions to be issued as a matter of urgency and we are seeking a teleconference with the Department of Health and Trust Employers to raise your concerns.

Whilst there are many issues members have raised for NIPSA the urgent issues are:

  • PPE and FIT Testing
  • Covid-19 Testing
  • Guidance for pregnant Women
  • Homeworking
  • Agency Staff
  • Redeployment

Across the HSC the vast majority of workers have been classed as essential workers and therefore it is vital that your Employer complies with the PHA and other guidance in place so that you are protected in work. Can I please ask that members continue to raise all Health & Safety issues including social distancing measures, through your local representative and Branch Committee members, who will raise all concerns with the Employer and if needed they will be escalated and raised regionally with the Department of Health.

Please be reassured that our Local Reps, Branch Committees and NIPSA HQ staff are working for all our members across the HSC at this time which we appreciate it is stressful for our members. Our main aim is to ensure that you are safe in work and that all Health & Safety principles are in place and adhered to. As information comes through we will forward on to you as soon as possible to keep you updated and informed.

NIPSA Branch Secretaries, please ensure this is forward on to all members.

Assistant Secretary
