NIPSA members, together with members of SIPTU, GMB and Unite are due to be on strike tomorrow, Thursday 3 December 2020.

Despite intensive talks facilitated by the LRA over the last few days some areas in dispute remain. The issues which remain under dispute are on a fundamental principle of equality on pay. The unions are committed to continue talks, however the time left to get an agreement is very short. Therefore, the strike legally notified to the Council will go ahead.

Picket lines will be at the following areas:

  • Monaghan Row Council Offices, Newry
  • Greenbank Council Depot, Newry
  • Downshire Civic Centre, Downpatrick
  • Strangford Road Depot, Downpatrick.

Pickets lines will be in place at the Council Offices from 8am and from Greenbank and Strangford Depots from 6am.

Any support you can lend to the members in Newry, Mourne and Down Council will be very welcome, be that messages of support or attending the picket lines.

Please ensure that if you attend a picket line that you wear a face covering and keep social distancing in place.

General Secretary
