Members will be aware of an announcement made yesterday 28 July 2020, by the Minister of Health in relation to plans to Rebuild HSC Services. The plans stated that Lagan Valley Hospital in Lisburn will become the location for a regional Day Procedure Centre and Musgrave Park Hospital and Altnagelvin Hospital will be designated hub sites for orthopaedic procedures.
NIPSA is not aware of the detail of the plans and cannot therefore assess potential impact on our members in relation to any relocation issues etc. or of the impact on service to patients due to them having to travel further for treatment.
The fact that we were not consulted in advance has been raised with the Department and the detail has been sought. The matter was also raised at a pre-planned meeting with the Health Minister this morning when it was reiterated that Trade Unions must be meaningfully involved in the design of plans with adequate time to consult and form a view to allow us to protect our member’s interests.
Further detail will follow.
